Earth Howl  [Back] The moon and I are kin; We talk, we watch, And we fear for our Mother. Our Mother, the earth Who gives us life, Who keeps us as we would keep her. The moon says humans talk too, Of profit, of sport, And lately, of terraform. I know profit-- It means dark air and fallen trees And I cower; I know sport-- It means death without need or use, And I tremble; But this last word I do not know. The moon says it means that Humans can make another home On a Father world among the stars That must be made green, That must be given water. I do not understand. Could they not heal the Mother we share Before they remake an unknown Father? All do not speak so, the moon tells me, Some would keep us safe, Would heal our Mother. So the moon shines on and I howl Loudly So they may find me in the night.
